Laszlo T. Andre was born on July 7, 1946, in Budapest, Hungary, to Leslie T. Andre and Helen (Ilona) Baan Andre. His early life was shaped by the tumultuous events of history. In 1956, following the Hungarian Revolution, his family made the brave decision to emigrate to the United States. They settled in east-central Illinois, where his father became a professor at Eastern Illinois University. This move marked the beginning of a new chapter for Laszlo and his family, as they embraced their new life in America.

It was in Illinois, at Eastern Illinois University, that Laszlo met Jane, the woman who would become his lifelong partner. Together, they built a family and a legacy that would span nearly five decades. Their union was a partnership founded on love, respect, and shared values, and it grew even stronger as they raised their two sons, John and Michael. Laszlo was an incredibly proud father and delighted in watching his children grow and achieve. He later found even greater joy in the accomplishments of his grandchildren—Hayden, Adam, and Payton—who brought light to his life in ways words could hardly capture.

From a young age, Laszlo exhibited a deep sense of duty and dedication, qualities that would define his entire life. After graduating from college, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he would serve with distinction for 14 years. Rising to the rank of Captain, Laszlo was a committed leader and a testament to the values of integrity, responsibility, and perseverance. During his time in the military, he balanced the demands of service with his pursuit of higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from Eastern Illinois University, followed by a Master in Business Administration, reflecting his commitment to both his country and his personal growth.

Laszlo's military career not only took him across the United States but also provided him the opportunity to serve abroad. He spent several years in Nigeria, working with the Nigerian Air Force's Technical Training Group. This international experience showcased his technical expertise and his ability to adapt and thrive in diverse environments. His time abroad left an indelible mark on him, shaping his worldview and deepening his appreciation for different cultures and the importance of global collaboration.

Following his military retirement, Laszlo transitioned to the civilian sector, where he became involved in ventures focused on personal security. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to helping others ensured that his work continued to have a positive impact long after he left active duty. Eventually, he and Jane settled in San Antonio, Texas, where they enjoyed their golden years surrounded by family and friends. The warmth of Texas and the close-knit nature of his family offered Laszlo a sense of peace and fulfillment in the later stages of his life.

Laszlo passed away on February 2, 2022, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of service, love, and devotion. His life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his country, his family, and the values he held dear. He was a man who, through his actions, showed that true strength lies in serving others and living with integrity. Laszlo’s story is one of resilience, of a man who overcame adversity and thrived, always striving to make the world around him a better place.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jane Andre; his sons, John Andre (Karla) and Michael Andre (Marcia); and his grandchildren, Hayden, Adam, and Payton. His passing leaves a void, but his influence and the example he set for his family and all who knew him will endure for generations to come.
