COIN-A-VETERAN

PROJECT

Challenge coins are unique collectibles with a rich military heritage, symbolizing honor and teamwork across military branches. Each coin represents courage and unity.

Originating in World War I, challenge coins served as symbols of identity and belonging among soldiers. One famous story involves a pilot who proved his identity to captors using a medallion that ultimately saved his life.

After World War II, soldiers began the "pfennig check" at bars, challenging each other with unit medallions. This fun tradition continues today, reinforcing bonds and camaraderie among service members.

Through our nonprofit, Coin-A-Veteran Project, we present challenge coins to veterans to show our deep appreciation for their service. This initiative not only rewards the veterans but also fosters a sense of community, allowing us to honor these men and women while they are still living. It’s a meaningful way to let them know they are valued and appreciated for their sacrifices.

Do You Have Veterans On the Job!

If you are a business owner or county agency and would like to recognize the service men and women on the job, please fill out the Coin-A-Veteran request form below. The Warriors Remembrance Foundation will review your request, and if approved, we will arrange a coining event at your location.

Each coining event includes patriotic pins for non-veterans to help spread patriotism throughout our communities. This program is free of charge and offers a meaningful way to show appreciation for the heroes in your workforce.

Currently Coin-A-Veteran is only offered for Texas counties within the Hill Country territory, but we are working to expand this project to other counties throughout Texas. If you are not in the Hill Country please still submit your request so we can put you on the waiting list.
