CEMETERY OF THE YEAR
St. Joseph at Honey-Creek
Congratulations to St. Joseph Honey Creek Cemetery – 2024 Warriors Remembrance Foundation Cemetery of the Year!
The Warriors Remembrance Foundation is proud to announce that St. Joseph Honey Creek Cemetery in Spring Branch, Texas, has been selected as the 2024 Cemetery of the Year. Established in the mid-1800s, St. Joseph’s is a sacred resting place for generations of veterans, spanning from the Civil War to the Iraq War. Among those interred are heroes who were Killed in Action, Purple Heart recipients, and veterans who served across multiple conflicts, including WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. With more than 100 veterans buried at the cemetery, alongside their spouses and children, veterans make up nearly 40 percent of the individuals laid to rest at St. Joseph.
The St. Joseph Honey Creek Catholic Church parish has shown unwavering dedication to maintaining the cemetery’s grounds. A team of dedicated groundskeepers ensures the cemetery remains well-kept, mowed, and trimmed. Additionally, the Knights of Columbus play an instrumental role in honoring the veterans interred at the cemetery, especially during Memorial Day and Veterans Day services. Their commitment to remembering and celebrating our nation’s heroes is deeply appreciated by the community.
In February 2024, the Warriors Remembrance Foundation partnered with the parish and the Knights of Columbus to provide perpetual care for the veterans laid to rest at St. Joseph, including those whose remains are housed in the mausoleum. The church’s staff and volunteers are truly dedicated to maintaining a peaceful and respectful environment, making it a fitting and serene location for families and visitors to pay their respects to our nation’s fallen heroes.
