The hard truth is that over 75% of all deceased Veterans are buried in our local community cemeteries, not in the prestigious National and State Veteran cemeteries we often see celebrated. Many of these cemeteries are located in rural areas, underfunded, and in a state of neglect. Among those buried are our nation's heroes, some of whom served as far back as the Revolutionary War. Sadly, most of these Veterans and their graves have been forgotten, left without visitors to honor them on their birthdays or during Memorial or Veterans Day.

Our young 10-year-old Founder, Nicholas Aidan, was deeply moved by this reality. He started a project to combat the neglect of these grave sites through cleaning and restoration, but he still felt heartbroken knowing that many would never receive visitors. Inspired by this, Nicholas and his fellow board members created the Adopt-A-Plot Project — a movement to bring attention to and visitors to these Veterans' grave sites.

Why This Matters

The mission of the Adopt-A-Plot Project is simple: To have neighbors in our local communities adopt a Veterans' grave site and visit at least once a year to honor their service and sacrifice. These visits can be as simple as laying flowers, saying a prayer, or offering a quiet moment of gratitude. Most importantly, it's a way to ensure that these brave individuals are never forgotten, and that their contributions to our country are acknowledged with the respect they deserve.

How You Can Help

This project is completely free and only requires a modest commitment: One visit a year. It’s a small gesture, but one that can mean the world to a fallen hero who may otherwise remain alone. While we encourage participants to visit more often — especially on meaningful days like Memorial Day — even a single visit is a powerful act of remembrance.
