David Andrew Legendre, a man of unwavering dedication and profound impact, transitioned into eternity on August 17, 2021, following a courageous battle with illness. Throughout his life, he was surrounded by the love and support of his cherished family, including his devoted wife, Dorenda Legendre, his daughter Kathryn and her husband Brian, his son Matthew, stepdaughter Alexis Guillory, and a multitude of other beloved relatives.

Born on March 13, 1962, David's journey was marked by a deep commitment to service and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Raised within the tight-knit community of St. Joseph Honey Creek, he inherited a legacy of faith and service from his father, the late Deacon "Jim" Legendre, a retired United States Air Force member. Inspired by his father's footsteps, David embarked on a remarkable career path, following his passion for service by joining the Air Force.

David's tenure in the Air Force was characterized by remarkable achievements and unwavering dedication to his mission. With a steadfast commitment to providing the highest standard of patient care, he served as a vital member of the Aeromedical Evacuation Liaison Team, where he played a pivotal role in facilitating expedient transport for sick and injured service members.

During his service in OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM in 2003, David's leadership and courage were on full display as he served as Officer-in-Charge at Balad Air Base, Iraq. His team faced numerous challenges, including mass casualty events such as the Baghdad UN bombing and the Chinook shoot-down near Fallujah. Through his exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication, David's team saved countless lives, earning him recognition as a true standout and proud Airman.

David's commitment to the core values of the Air Force—Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do—served as a guiding principle throughout his distinguished career. His unwavering dedication to these values was not merely a profession, but a way of life, exemplifying the very essence of honor, duty, and sacrifice.

Upon his retirement from the Air Force with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, David left behind a legacy of service and excellence that will continue to inspire generations to come. Though he may have left this world, his spirit and legacy will forever endure in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. David's impact on the lives of others will be remembered and cherished for eternity.
