John P. McNew's life began on April 21, 1921, in Carthage, Missouri, where he was born to proud parents Willis and Cordelia Keene McNew. From his earliest days, John exhibited a spirit of resilience and determination that would shape his remarkable journey.

Entering adulthood during a time of global upheaval, John heeded the call to serve his country with unwavering courage. Joining the United States Air Force, he embarked on a career that would span an impressive 28 years of dedicated service.

Throughout his military tenure, John's bravery knew no bounds. He took to the skies, flying an astonishing 192 missions in the Southwest Pacific Theater, where he faced danger with unwavering resolve. His extraordinary acts of heroism earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Multiple Oak Clusters, and the Asiatic Campaign with a Bronze Star.

On May 27, 1993, at the age of 72, John's earthly journey reached its conclusion at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas. Yet, his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

John's devotion to his family was unparalleled. He is survived by his daughters Daralynn Cameron, Judy Hopkinson, Mary Kircher, Christine McNew, and Patricia McNew, as well as his sons John, David, George, Edmund, and Jim McNew. Through his guidance, love, and unwavering support, John instilled in his children the values of integrity, resilience, and service.
