Born on October 12, 1950, in San Antonio, Texas, Deacon Freddy Jesus Alfredo Mireles lived a life deeply rooted in faith and service. From his earliest days, he was imbued with a spirit of dedication and compassion that would define his remarkable journey.

As a young man, Deacon Freddy answered the call to serve his country with honor and courage. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and valiantly served during the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering bravery on the battlefield.

Upon returning home, Deacon Freddy continued his pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. He pursued his passion for history, graduating from UTSA with a degree that would shape his understanding of the world and his place in it.

In his professional career, Deacon Freddy exemplified excellence and dedication. For 18 years, he applied his expertise as a Senior Instrument Technician at Shell Oil, followed by 23 years of service at the Edwards Aquifer as a Field Inspector.

But it was Deacon Freddy's unwavering commitment to his faith and community that truly defined him. A man of God, he dedicated himself to serving others through various ministries and organizations. As a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and an active member of the Optimist Club, he tirelessly worked to make a positive impact on the lives of those around him, particularly in the Hispanic and Latino community.

Throughout his life, Deacon Freddy found strength and solace in the love of his family. He shared over 42 years of marriage with his beloved wife and soulmate, Janie Mireles. Together, they raised a family grounded in love, faith, and compassion.

Deacon Freddy's legacy of love, service, and devotion to God will endure for generations to come. Though he is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Carmen Mireles, and his brother Joaquin Mireles, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On Saturday, December 18, 2021, Deacon Freddy Jesus Alfredo Mireles peacefully passed away in Bulverde, Texas, after a courageous battle with COVID-19. His life, marked by faith, service, and love, will forever be remembered and cherished by those whose lives he touched.
