Anne Marie Adkins (Young) was a beacon of unwavering dedication and service to her country. Born September 3rd 1949 in the small, tight-knit town of Lyons, Kansas, Anne was the third of ten children born to Robert and Mary Ann Young. Her early years were shaped by a loving family and the strong values of hard work and commitment.

Graduating from Lyons High School in 1967, Anne’s path quickly led her to a life of service when she enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of that same year. As a tradesman and flight simulator operator, Anne demonstrated both technical skill and a profound dedication to her role. After four years of active duty, she transitioned to the Naval Reserves based in Olathe, Kansas, where her journey took a significant turn.

In the reserves, Anne’s life intersected with that of Ben Adkins, whom she would marry. Though Ben’s passing in 1986 was a loss, Anne’s spirit and commitment to her duties remained unshaken. Her career continued with Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, where she played a crucial role in the B-52H upgrades, showcasing her expertise and dedication to her nation's defense.

Anne’s pursuit of excellence extended beyond her military service. She furthered her education at Wichita State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree and achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) 2 in aviation electronics. Her career in the Naval Reserves spanned an impressive 26 years, culminating in her retirement in 1993 as a CWO4.

Anne’s legacy is marked not only by her distinguished service but also by her enduring bonds with her family. She is survived by eight siblings, with two residing in Texas and the remainder in Kansas, each of whom cherishes her memory.
