Robert Wayne Thompson, a Texan through and through, was born in Dallas and raised in Waxahachie by his mother, Gladys Juanita, and stepfather, Alvin "Klenzo" Guthrie. From a young age, his vibrant personality shone brightly, evident in his charismatic and determined nature.

Despite a setback in junior high when he was cut from the basketball team, Robert's resilience and dedication were unmatched. With a homemade court and relentless practice, he earned a spot on the team the following year, eventually becoming a standout player and earning MVP honors multiple times throughout his high school career.

His basketball prowess caught the attention of college coaches, leading to scholarship offers from SMU and Sam Houston State. Opting for the latter, Robert's decision not only shaped his future but also forged lifelong friendships. At Sam Houston, he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and excelled on the basketball team, laying the foundation for his professional and personal success.

Interrupting his studies during the Vietnam Era, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Marines before returning to complete his degree at Sam Houston. His post-graduation journey took him to Beaumont, where he taught and coached before transitioning to a career with International Harvester and later establishing a successful Allstate agency.

In 1992, Robert married Virginia "Ginny" Etheredge, with whom he built a thriving State Farm agency in Boerne. A passionate golfer, hunter, fisherman, and gun collector, Robert's love for his family surpassed all else. Fondly known as "Bogey" by his grandchildren, he cherished every moment spent with them, leaving behind cherished memories of hunting expeditions and outdoor adventures.

A proud conservative and lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, Robert was known for his unwavering beliefs and his commitment to family, friends, and wildlife alike. Though his laughter and presence will be deeply missed, the warmth of his spirit will forever comfort those who knew and loved him.
